Customer Reviews

For the eclipse.Premature but I know they're fine. I got these for the eclipse. I'm in the path & have no intention of missing it. I got to use someone's welder's mask in 2004 & it was great, but we we're sharing. I'm not sharing this time. 5Eclipse ViewingThese are amazing and comfortable when used for viewing solar eclipses or solar events. I use a shade 13 or higher and you have to make sure you go not lighter for risk of permanent eye injury. Read up on warnings before purchasing for viewing the sun with these.5Are not molded to normal human face structureI don't know what creature's face was used to create the contours of these goggles but it couldn't have been human. These goggles sit so high on the face that your eyes are looking directly at the bottom of the lens. You literally have to look up to see out the middle of the lens which is extremely hard on the eyes. The forehead rest of the goggles is too shallow and the nose piece too deep as if they were made to fit the aliens from Mars Attacks.1Perfect for the eclipse when combined with standard #14 shade lenses! For those of you who are preparing for the eclipse these are perfect! The lenses are interchangeable with the standard 2"x4" lenses. You can get 16 of them for about $27. Just swap out the lens for #14 shade. Having the ambient light blocked out makes viewing the sun so much better. I have a family of 6 +friends. This is the most cost effective great solution. Don't pay $20+ for "glasses" that aren't good for anything else and don't block out ambient light. Don't get the cheap cardboard ones - unless you just don't care. Link to the lenses below.Radnor(R) 2" X 4 1/4" Shade 14 Heat Treated Glass Filter PlateAs brazing goggles they are just fine. I might leave the #14 lenses in and my boys can use them when they are standing back watching and learning how to weld if they don't want to wear their auto darkening full face helmet all the time.5I wish I would have bought these a long time ago!I have to plasma cut, grind, measure, re-position, clamp, and etc. all the time. My old goggles look exactly the same, but they do not flip up. I was going crazy taking off my welding cap, my headphones, my head flashlight, and then my old goggles to be able to see to do any of the other things between cuts. Now I can just flip up the visor, and I don't need to take them off to do any other jobs and they are safety goggles for grinding, etc. I wish I would have bought these a long time ago!5It works. They work well. Not very comfortable around the face, the strap has the feel of something that will end up aging early and being replaced. 3Could have been very good.....but missed the markOK, they didn't cost a lot but still, they have to at least work a little bit! So, there is one way that they are great...if you need to work overhead. As others have mentioned the design of these are such that when they are on you the only way to look is "Up". Really, the way they fit your face they are tilted up in such a way that it is very difficult to look down at a work piece. Its strange...I would sen them back but they were not expensive (thank goodness!) and it appears I will be able to slide off the font lens and use it on another older stet of googles I have that actually fit me well and allow my eyes to look straight and especially downward. These things must be built for overhead work. No, even at this low price i would not buy them again.3Love that I can swap out lenses to make them safe for solar viewing.I ordered a couple of pairs of these because they were advertised as having replaceable lenses and a reviewer also said they fit over regular eyeglasses. It was a breeze to swap out the original lenses for the standard size shade 14 ones that I ordered from another merchant. And, they also do fit over eyeglasses with no undue pressure. I might switch out the elastic for a longer piece on the one my large-noggined husband will wear to be doubly safe.5Easier to work with than old gogolesIt has a wider elastic head band than my old unit. I like the flip up feature as I wear glasses and the flip up is easier to check progress without shutting off the torch, removing the goggler, dtv.5Excellent cutting/ welding goggles. Solid build and easily allow for prescription eye glass use. Perfect for what I needed. Comfy, fits easily over prescription eyeglasses. Tinted glass to clear glass is simply a headflip away with solid hinges that keep the glass up and secure when only clear glass is needed. 4Not newThese are fine goggles, BUT, I ordered two. One arrived just fine, the other package had been opened (staples gone from the plastic pack) and the goggles scuffed up, Worst, the inner surface of the lens is damaged. The product label was not the original Hobart version. I wanted one and a spare; it's not worth my time fooling around returning the damaged one which is usable. I assume the shipper was counting on that. Again to be totally clear, the Hobart goggles are a fine product, just get them from somebody else.1Great for the Great Eclipse of 2017This welding goggle was comfortable to wear and use. I was pleased that I could flip it up or just partway. I used it for the solar eclipse by substituting the #5 shade for a #14 shade. This is where the flipping up partway worked great. At a 45 degree angle I could look up and see the eclipse and could still see out the front to walk around. I am sure I looked a bit funny, but it sure worked out swell.4Good goggles but.. I wish someone would make better , more comfortable, head gear. Like double straps? These are as good a goggle I've found for torch welding. Better straps would give them another star. 4
