Malicious software in this light bulb!!!The lightbulb works, however the application as well as the bulb itself is a network security nightmare. The app is downright malicious but worse, the bulb calls home to a Chinese IP address. Bulb also will not work if it does not have full internet access. I gave this bulb an IP reservation and blocked it's IP from reaching the internet. When I want to change the color, I toggle the firewall rule on/off.1AV Tech approved.I thought these light bulbs worked out really well. I bought 4 of them. I work as an Audio Visual Technician so I see a LOT of lights all the time. I've read reviews about this light saying that the color blending isn't very good. Well, they must have updated these or something because the blending is perfect! I have seen LED fixtures that cost 100s of dollars that don't blend as well as these.Pairing with Alexa worked easy enough and you can tell the light to turn on, off, change to 50% brightness,5% brightness, 100% etc. You can also tell it what color to be, green, red, purple, white etc.The light bulbs have their own app too with scenes. Scene for relaxing, reading or "rainbow" etc. Some of these are chases so the rainbow one will change colors at timed intervals. The thing about these scenes though, is that all the lights change to the same hue and act in unison. I have worked with the Philips Hue and when you select a scene like "aurora" for example. All the lights come on in different shades of blues and greens, give you a dynamic look. These Iviews are all the same color in their scenes. Maybe there is a way to set up a custom scene but I couldn't figure it out.Speaking of scenes. Alexa has a tab for scenes but it would not find any scenes. I would except Alexa to find the scenes from the Iview app and import them but maybe I don't understand how they work together. If someone know more about this, I would love to chat.Well anyway for around $15 these are an EXCELLENT value!4Wi-fi setup was easy..I bought 2 of these and their "whitest" colors didn't match...doesn't look so hot together as porch lights at my front door. I did buy some more to go in the garage and side porch lights...hoping I can find sets that match colors.Wi-fi setup was easy...one of the bulbs needed to be turned off and on a few times to look for wi-fi...tells me it was previously used I'm guessing.Works with Alexa very nicely.3Honestly - Great Product and SupportBefore discussing the bulbs, a quick note on the app (Android user here)The mobile app to control these bulbs isn't perfect, but they consistently add improvements and bugfixes. I was furious with it when I first got the bulbs, but the last couple updates delivered a better UI, sharing capabilities, and better performance.** BulbsLove these bulbs. Bought 4 back in March of this year, and haven't had any issues until this past weekend. One bulb in the lamp showed as offline, and wouldn't turn on. I emailed support, and received troubleshooting instructions, and a technical support number to call if that didn't work. (It didn't)I spoke to Richard in Technical support, then with Shenny in customer service. New bulb is en route, and I'm VERY satisfied.No matter what the reviews say, consider the dates and the fact some folks may not be the most tech-savvy. With a little reading and patience, I think anyone can use and enjoy the bulbs. My experience has been fantastic, especially considering the cost. Echo for Christmas and were looking to get some smart bulbs but didn't want to deal with the hassle ...My husband and I got an Echo for Christmas and were looking to get some smart bulbs but didn't want to deal with the hassle or cost of getting one like the Phillips Hue that requires a hub on top of the costly bulbs. This bulb works perfectly for our purposes, much cheaper, and doesn't require the hub!Setup was super easy -- I put the bulb in the lamp, downloaded the app, typed in my wifi password, and it was all done. Took maybe a total of 5 mins until I could control it with the app. It was also very easy to connect to Alexa, I went into the Alexa app and got the iView skill, then went to the Smart Devices tab, it searched and found my new bulb, and voila it was connected via my Echo! Alexa can turn it on and off, control brightness and dimming, and change the colors of the light. The app allows you to set scenes and schedule timers as well. It seems to have mostly the same functions as the Hue.The bulb itself is decently bright---we have just 1 in a lamp that holds 3 bulb right now and it lights up the room well enough. We are going to get 2 more and it will be plenty bright then. These are equivalent to a 50W bulb whereas the Hue is equivalent to 60W so its not quite as bright but like I said still pretty good. The colors all look really good as well, it can basically do any color I think of and you can mess with it to get the exact color and shade you want.Overall very happy with this purchase and we are buying at least 2 more, maybe more!!5It actually worked! It actually worked! I mean who would have though with the Philips Hue costing hundreds of dollars and needing a hub, that a single bulb for under $15 would actually do everything on its own. It s only been a couple of hours, so I ll update if things go south later on but as for now...I m impressed and buying more. And Alexa integration is perfect.5Frustrated!I am often home after dark. This is perfect for those times I need my porch light, living room and/or bedroom light turned on while not at home. I love the easy of the iView iHome app. I only purchased three and will buy more for every room in house. It works great with my Echo. Color changes on command to Alexa. It took three repeated efforts to connect to WiFi, but don t give up. You will love it too.Update (One year later):I was not going to write a review. However, since I am unable to receive any assistance from Customer Service, and the fact that I ve purchased six smart lights that are not cheap (and not so smart), I ve decided, the best thing I can do is to warn others.I constantly get a connection error to check WiFi. I ve tried to connect with a fast blink, slow blink, Bluetooth, I just keep getting an error message for all repeatedly.The light connections between the wifi worked great the first time. They also worked the second time I had to reconnect them. But when I upgraded my router but used the exact same WiFi (2G) name and password, I have been unable to connect any of them. I tried switching them around since that worked one other time when I was having the same issues. Words cannot fully express the extent of my frustrations. I ve spent hours, yes, hours and days trying to connect even one bulb, with no luck. At this point, I have decided to give up and write reviews on Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest to warn others not to purchase this crap. If I could sue for the return of my investment without it costing me an arm and a leg, I would without hesitation. If I could give a star rating of minus zero (-0), I would gladly.1Great Bulbs Easy to set up Easy to use with AlexaI purchased one for my bathroom, after configuring it with Echo Dot Alexa which was super easy, I liked it so much I bought a second one. You can tell Alexa to change it to any color, dim it, make it brighter. The app that you download for the bulb is super easy to add another bulb. Since both of mine were in the bathroom I called the bulbs bulb 1 and bulb 2, then I added them to a group called bathroom, Now Alexa turns both on and off together, yet you can adjust each one separately. I was going to order 2 more today for my kitchen, but they are out of stock. i will wait until they are back in stock and buy more. These are for a small room or wherever you don't need bright lights. When set to white with the brightness all the way up it's pretty bright for a bathroom. You can set them to a soft or bright white. This was my first smart bulb purchase and I'd buy again. It screws in your typical household socket.5This Smart bulb gets dumb over time.This bulb is just okay. Not great. If it loses connection to WiFi, its almost impossible to get it connected to the 2.4ghz network again. Yes. You read that right. It only works with a 2.4Ghz network. If your access point or router broadcasts 5Ghz, this thing won't work. Mine lost connection to the WiFi network. The light blinks rapidly when you put it in configuration mode, but the app won't recognize it so that you can re-add it.Probably won't be buying another one for the office.2
