Customer Reviews

Let's hope you never have to hear the pen drop. The pens work as hoped. They write as smooth as they can when they're this thin, and the ink flows well enough. I haven't ran in to any dry pens in my case yet, as others have reported, but I haven't been through the entire box. Overall, I'm sufficiently satisfied with the writing capabilities of the pens.My biggest complaint, and a major drawback of these pens, is that when dropped (only once, mind you) from any sort of height, I can personally guarantee the tip will become bent. As a college student, I take a lot of notes, and my hand is bound to become sweaty. The Pen Gods help you if your pen manages to slip from your hands. All of the weight in the pen is in the tip (where all of the metal components are) and as such the pen is bound to land tip first. I have thus far managed to bend the tips of four of my pens, and have had to bend them back in to place manually. While I understand it is entirely my fault, I just wish they were a bit more durable.Overall, great pens. For the price, I'd expect them to withstand a little more wear and tear. Could be a bit more ergonomic. Satisfied.I will update this review with pictures of my tips once I have a chance. 3Wont be my go-to pens. These pens are okay for me. Small, cheaper feeling plastic barrel and scratchier nib. Excuse my rushed writing, but did a comparison with the Pilot HI-TEC-C maica set i have. The maica set is better for me... smooth barrel, has a little more weight to it. Smoother nib even though they are approx the same. Similar colors though, so thats nice. 3Likely a bad batch, ink bleedingI'm a committed user of Pilot Hi-Tec-C and G-Tec-C pens, so I bought this to have a nice store of them whenever I need. However, every single one of the pens that I've gotten in this package have had problems with ink flow. These pens eithera) Skip out completely,b) Lay down way too much ink for 0.4 width, causing bleedingorc) do both of the above. It should be noted that I've never had a problem with these pens before, in the 4-5 years I've been using them exclusively. As an artist doing hatchwork, this is problematic, as switching pens will create a different line width in the middle of a drawing.Attached is a comparison of one of the pens from this package, and another Pilot G-Tec-C4. You can clearly see some of the bleeding happening at the beginning of lines, and the pen skipping in the middle of a "hello".This is probably just a bad batch, but it's quite frustrating to encounter pen after pen failing.I'll probably have to go back to buying these in-store and testing each one. 2The most frustrating nightmare of a penAfter a few writes with one of these pens, the ink started to run out on me and get terribly scratchy. When I replaced the one that ran out (still with full, new ink inside) with a new one from the box, the new one did the exact same thing in the same day of using it for the first time. I ran through several more to only be extremely frustrated that all of pens did the same thing. My friend owns a box of the Hi-tec-c 0.25mm pens, but she bought them for $10 more than this box of G-tec-c's. Before buying these, I briefly looked up reviews, worried that the Hi-tec-c was different than the G-tec-c. I remember seeing people say that there was no difference except that the G-tec-c was the American version of the Hi-tec-c. THERE IS MOST DEFINITELY A DIFFERENCE. My friend gave me four of her hi-tec-c pens and I have run through 3/4 of them with no problem at all and they have become one of my favorite and go-to pens to use. You can see the difference between the G-tec-c and the hi-tec-c in the pictures and how scratchy the G-tec-c is. It is worth paying the extra money to get a box of great, working hi-tec-c pens instead of ending up with a cheaper box of poor quality, runs-out-basically-within-the-hour, G-tec-c pens. Do not buy. You can have my leftover pens. 1Don't buy a dozen! To be fair, I love these pens. BUT, for some reason, the quality really sucks in this dozen box. I've never had a problem with these pens before, and as a university student, I tend to take a long of notes by hand. I usually buy the MUJI pens in bulk, but since I love how fine and inky these pens usually are, I decided to buy the dozen box. Many of these pens (I would say out of the five I've tested, FOUR skip ink while writing. Not even after a lot of use, sometimes after using it only a few times, which is RIDICULOUS considering how much I paid per pen :-(. I really wish this came in a pack of four but in all black, or some other smaller pack (reasonably price) where quality is a little better. If you're looking to get these pens, I suggest getting them individually or in the smaller packs. 3These write beautifullyI've had lots of issues with gel pens over the years, since many of them stop writing and clog up frequently, but these are different. Not only do they not clog up, (So long as you remember to put the cap back on in between uses,) but they write in a beautifully smooth line. The colour is nice and stands out well on white paper and they are easy on the hands, even for someone who has arthritis. Overall, these are my favourite of the pens that I have tried this year. I will say one negative about these though, and that is the tips are very delicate. If you drop the pen you will likely have to throw it away, because the tips break easily. 4Very fine pens for very fine writingThese pens are my go-to when I need to make any types of diagrams or write in small print. There are also finer tips than 0.4mm, but 0.4mm is perfect for me. The ink is also fairly dry; it doesn't feather, doesn't bleed, and doesn't smudge easily. You would think that with the thin tips and excellent ink properties, they'd have to compromise somewhere, but they don't. Despite the thinness and the seemingly dry qualities of the ink, I've never once had flow issues.I haven't had the chance to test to see how waterproof the ink is. I will update if the situation ever comes up.I highly recommend these pens. 5I've ruined $1200 worth of stuff with these pens and yet I still buy themThese are my favorite pens in the world and I repurchase several times a year because I use them until the ink runs out. Usually they have a very smooth and effortless inkflow with crisp, clean lines.Just know that it will stain the heck out of your off-white tufted linen couch, which you knew was a bad idea to begin with but you thought you were a responsible adult. It also will not come out of emerald green silk blouses. Actually, I used a stain remover that was so effective that it literally took dye out of my blouse and yet the two pen marks barely faded.* Kind of impressive actually. Be warned!*Sorry for pic quality, the sheen of the material made it hard to capture the ink spots but you get the idea! 5My FAVORITE Pens!I seriously love these pens and have used them for years. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves a super fine point pen. I ve never found a pen that I like more (and I ve seriously tried nearly every fine point pen out there). As with all fine point pens, they don t do great on thin paper - but if you have a soft surface (or a double layer of paper) they have zero issues. 5Its nice, when it actually decides to work.Picture the scene, you've just dropped 21 bucks on a box of pens. You open one up, start writing, nothing comes out for a moment, and then the smoothest and thinnest line you've experienced up until this point comes out, and continues to do so for a couple pages. Then all of sudden your pen decides to start skipping like crazy, and eventually, nothing comes out. The cartridge is still mostly full, and since you've spend basically 2 dollars on this one pen, you don't want to chuck it out immediately. So you try suctioning the tip to get rid of air bubbles, blowing in the back to get ink to come out, and eventually, you must have done something right, because the pen works reasonably well until the ink runs dry.Second pen of the box, everything works great, then it goes completely dry after a couple minutes (in the middle of class too) and absolutely nothing restarts it, until you literally pull the ballpoint out of the old pen using a pair of pliers, (after class, obviously) and swap it with the current one, and then it starts working again.Perhaps I got a bad batch, or maybe they're all like this, who knows. I'll update this once my second pen runs dry and I start on a third.Meanwhile, I also gave a couple of these to friends that also enjoy fine writing instruments, and they also had a similar experience, starts off amazing, then it randomly stops working. 3
