  • WEATHERPROOF PAPER: 100 pages / 50 sheets per pocket notepad. All-Weather paper wont turn to mush when wet and will repel water, sweat, grease, mud, and even survive the accidental laundry mishap. Make sure your pocket notebook stays RIGHT in the Rain.
  • WIRE-O BINDING: Tough impact-resistant Wire-O binding won't lose its shape in your back pocket or backpack. Unlike a standard spiral notebook, Wire-O keeps your open pages aligned and intact.
  • WRITE IN THE RAIN: Use a standard pencil like a #2 Ticonderoga or an All-Weather Pen like a Fisher Space Pen and your notes will stay intact. Standard Ballpoint pens will work when paper is dry. Water-based inks will bead off Rite in the Rain paper sheets.
  • WATERPROOF NOTEBOOK COVER: Polydura material creates a tough but flexible outer shell. Whether you're needing a hiking journal, outfitting your police gear, starting a golf journal, or just keeping a shower notebook, the Polydura Cover material will defend your field notes from scratches and stains.
  • RECYCLABILITY: Unlike synthetic waterproof paper, wood-based Rite in the Rain is completely recyclable. Please recycle Rite in the Rain as you would other white or printed papers.

Good Waterproof PadsUse these as log books to fulfill Dept of Conservation requirements for shellfish harvesting. They work in a cold (season is November to March), wet (open boat with all kinds of water flailing around from dumping dredges and culling haul), saltwater environment. Every bag harvested has to have time, date, bag#, locale and amount recorded ... which is a colossal pain in the ass ...especially if there's a sea running or it's raining or snowing. But they work as advertised in those conditions.5Waterproof but the spiral is a dumb design.I usually get the hardback notebook but my pants pocket could not fit that size this time around (damn you women's field gear pockets).Rite in the rain is excellent in the field and only starts to degrade if you cover the pages in abrasives like mud or leave it open inside your pocket. However, the spiral design that is used to hold this notebook together is the dumbest design known to all of field biology. The spirals come apart and you could lose valuable notes because of this. I had to to figure out a field fix for this and wound old bird banding wire around the ends of the spirals so they would stay shut and not lose pages.Good paper, dumb design.3An Amazing product, that worksI bought the (Rite in the Rain - Green Tactical Note Book (All Weather) for my line of work with the sheriffs department. And when your note taking can be the difference between your job and keeping someone bad off the streets, it's important to ensure that your notes are going not only to last, but handle all situations (like weather). I recieved my notebook about 5 days ago, and decided to give it a try, First I noticed it looked and almost felt like ordinary paper, but with a more thick quality with it. I began to write simple phrases on the first page with a variety of writing utensils, I tried an ordinary pen, a pencil, a 0.5mm pen and pencil, ballpoint pens, and so on. Then I tore out the first page which was as easy if not easier than an ordinary notebook.I took it over to the sink area and began to run water on the paper, for about 2 minutes the water beaded off the paper with ease, i turned the water off and examined the paper, it was only wet on the surface, i wiped the excess water off and perfect, it felt like the original paper with no signs of any water damage. This is a great product for someone who may work in an outdoor environment or just near water I highly Recommend this product to anyone in the market for a notebook that not only has quality but is resistant to everyday situations, thanks (Rite in the Rain) for making a great product. If you have any questions or comments or conserns please use the comment section below, and I will answer as swiftly as I can Thanks.5Not what I had imaginedI had been wanting one of these notebooks for quite some time because I commonly get wet and my notes get messed up when I'm working. I bought this pack thinking that my notes would remain intact when I fall into the river or drop my notebook.I find that when I write the ink smears very easily and pencil is very faint. I decided to do some test to see what writing utensil would hold up the best when wet. Pencil writes the best when the paper is wet but all my ink and pencil marks smear when there is water in contact with the page. This leads to me not being able to read my notes in the future.I am probably using the notebook wrong but it does hold up to its name. The notepad is weatherproof and does not disintegrate like a normal wet notepad would.3Rite in the Rain-ForestThe first thing anyone does when receiving a Rite in the Rain piece of paper is of course.... stick it under the water ! So, after that, usually a first time user will crumble it to see if anything happens. Nothing happens. So.. Then it's rubbing time. Etc. etc. etc. This paper will still work after you've machine washed it (tried). Amazing. Once I took it down with me while scuba diving to see if it was working - it did (of course you don't use paper while diving to take notes - you use a plastic slate - but then, I was curious). This is a true outdoor product - when you need to take notes while it's raining, or the weather is excessively damp and humid, there is no substitute for it. A good old fashioned pencil is best for writing in wet conditions - that is, until I got the Rite in the Rain pen, that has a pressurized cartridge and works better. I live in Colombia now, and I bought this specifically to be used in the rain-forest, where normal paper just doesn't cut it. This does.5Not waterproof.I haven't used Rite in the rain notebooks for a couple of decades. The paper used to be great and wouldn't even get wavy edges. I'm disappointed with my current notebook though.Granted, I'm writing in the rain, but this paper has clearly absorbed water and become see through. It seems to be a little fragile where it's wet. I don't know how the paper will be after it dries, but I hope it stays together.2It feels pretty much like ordinary paperI use these pads on a daily basis. It feels pretty much like ordinary paper, though perhaps a bit thicker. I've used it in the rain a few times with a pen that had a Fisher Space Pen refill in it, and the two work well together. Don't believe that you have to get a Rite in the Rain-brand pen to use with this. Even regular pens will write on this just fine when everything is dry, but I can't say how well regular pens would work when it's wet. But Fisher pens (or other pens with Fisher refills) work just fine, wet or dry.Note that the tan paper will stand out much less than white paper if it's left lying around. This is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how noticeable you want a left-behind note to be.5Longtime lover of Rite in the RainBeen using these since I volunteered with Fish & Wildlife when I was younger and they supplied them for field notes. Took this to Panama with me so I could doodle and take any notes I felt like. The town I stayed in was in a cloud forest and it rained quite a lot there, so I wanted to make sure none of my notes and drawings would get wet. Love these products a lot. <35Works great for described purpose, but very smellyThey serve the purpose of being weatherproof, but if you don't absolutely need weatherproof paper, don't buy these. The coating on the paper smells terrible and will quite nicely stink up any bag you have it in.3A notebook that stands up extremely well to bad weather and harsh working conditionsNow that I've used this notebook, I can't see myself using any other kind. I travel a lot and need a notebook with me at all times. That means the notebook I have with me is going to get wet frequently and take a beating in my pocket. This notebook is perfect. Rain/sweat have no effect on my written notes or my ability to write. The pages are thick which prevents tearing. The cover and binding are quite sturdy, rather than getting bent like cheaper notebooks. At 4x6 inches this fits in my cargo pocket without a problem and gives me plenty of writing space. If you are going to carry the notebook in your front pocket I'd suggest the smaller 3x5 version. The ruler on the back page was not something I thought about but has come in handy several times. No, this is certainly not the cheapest notebook available, but it is a reasonable price for a high quality product. If you are using this for field work, it is probably worth the cost. My work notes are certainly more valuable to me than the couple extra bucks spent. And really, how often do you fill up a notebook? I only go through one every month or two so it's not very costly. You cannot use gel type pens with this notebook, only normal ballpoint pens or pencils. I suggest using a Fisher Space Pen, it works very well with this notebook (also available on Amazon Prime for under $10)5
