Very durable juicer, but drain clogs easilyI juice two cups of orange juice every morning, which means most of my juicers disintegrate in a few months or even weeks. This unremarkable-looking juicer (purchased June 2017) has survived more than 15 months so far and still works like new, so it has earned my respect. My main complaint is one that other reviewers have also mentioned, that the drain hole from the catch basin to the spout clogs very easily. Depending on how pulpy the oranges I'm juicing are, it can clog as frequently as once per orange. Fortunately, you usually do not have to disassemble the juicer to fix this, I just flick the spout open and closed a few times and that unclogs it. This means if you're listening to me juice, you'll hear BRRR, BRRRR, ding ding ding! (as the metal spout hits the glass measuring cup that I'm using to catch the orange juice). This is annoying but perhaps less annoying than buying a new juicer every couple months.Still, I bet there are other juicers that are equally durable that don't have this problem.UPDATE: My June 2017 juicer is still going strong as of Sept 2019, making 32oz of orange juice daily. I'm upgrading this to 5 stars for sheer persistence, since continuing to work is the most important feature in an appliance. Who cares what bells and whistles something has if it breaks in weeks? 2+ years of good performance shouldn't be remarkable, but given the pathetic competition in the citrus juicer market, it is. 5A Really Good Juicer!I absolutely LOVE this juicer! This juicer gets the job done quickly, easily, and quietly. As other reviewers have stated, there are two reamers nestled together - a larger one sets on top of a smaller one - the larger one for oranges and the smaller one for lemons and limes. If other reviewers hadn't mentioned this, I would have thought it only came with a large reamer since they nest together so perfectly. The motor is not annoyingly loud or uncomfortable to listen to - much quieter than my Ninja blender, my ice cream machine, or my mixer. The amount of juice this machine gets from one lemon is amazing. I position a 2 cup glass Anchor Hocking measure under the juicer's spout and it catches the juice as I go. The spout, also, can be positioned upward and the juice will be retained in the machine, but so much juice is extracted per lemon that it's just easier to keep the glass Anchor Hocking measure under the spout. Sometimes pulp will get into the juicer's drain hole, but it is easily remedied with a swish of a finger over the drain. Pulp will also get into your juice (not a lot,) but I like the pulp so I never strain. The machine is super easy to clean, and you can wind the electrical cord up into the bottom of the machine for easy storage. I bought my juicer because my arthritic thumbs could not handle a manual squeezer, and with this juicer my thumbs never complain! I have used my juicer for 3 months now and it has shown no signs of wear and is as pretty as the day I got it. 5Still going strong after 2+ years!I have been using this citrus juicer for almost 3 years and it's still going strong! I don't juice oranges very often, but I make cocktails and lemonade so I juice lemons and limes a lot. This juicer has many good features. I love the locking spout that allows me to juice 3 lemons first and look for a bottle/cup to pour the juice in later. The cord wrap is convenient for storage, and the stainless steel filter works very well and hasn't rusted.Generally this device is easy to clean and maintain. However, there are many grooves so a good dish wand brush with pipe cleaners is recommended for a thorough cleaning (I personally use the OXO Good Grips Water Bottle Cleaning Set). Make sure you use a pipe cleaner to brush the spout because a lot of guck can build up there! The only thing I don't like is the plastic cover lid. There is no reliable place to put it when the plastic resevoir and the steel screen is being washed and drying on the dish rack. As a result my lid fell off the counter a couple times and has since cracked. It does keep the dust out of the assembly when your juicer is sitting on the counter though. 5Not powerful at allAccording to the instruction booklet, it's recommended that 15 seconds of operation be followed by 15 seconds of rest AND to not operate more than 5 minutes at one time AND allow a few minutes rest before the next use. REALLY??? After using this a couple of times I realized this is not a powerful juicer at all - as the operation manual states, "The Quiet Yet Powerful Citrus Juicer"... I found this to be just the opposite of powerful - almost as if is was running on batteries. Maybe I received a dud, but I'll be returning this soon. 1A few dumb design flawsAs already pointed out by others, the juice flows though a hole less than 1/4 inch diameter, which means that a small amount of pulp plugs the hole. In practice, after 1/2 grapefruit you will end up with the juicer filling (see picture) and the juice not going anywhere. You have to clean it literally every 30 seconds or so. Hello, engineers, anybody awake there? Other, it has 2 cones, supposedly large and small. The small is useless, you can squeeze the smallest limes on the large one. The large one is too small for the normal size grapefruit. But you have to use both which means you always have to clean both. To summarize, it works, but has several poor design flaws. I have returned mine after 3 days of trying. 3I suppose it's okay. But it could (should) cost less.I've been using this juicer for a few months now and it has served its purpose well. It has been used primarily for juicing oranges and grapefruit, and the CitiStar hasn't had any mechanical problems, thus far. The reamer consists of two parts: the lemon / lime insert which fits in the larger, outer piece. For a fifty dollar machine that's only made for juicing citrus, it would've been a nice surprise if the reamer was constructed of heavy-duty glass, but unfortunately they are both made of plastic. One of the main reasons that I chose this juicer is because of its sturdy, metal strainer, and it does a good job of keeping most of the pulp out of the juice. Also worth mentioning is that the juicer comes with a (plastic) dust cover to help keep it clean when it sits on the counter or inside the cabinet, and it's been noticeably effective. Another useful design feature is the juicer's wide base and rubber feet which keep it steady on the countertop while you're using it. However, the collection bowl's drain is tiny, obviously designed to keep pulp out of the juice, but it has a tendency to get clogged quickly -- which means you must stop what you're doing, take it apart and clear the pulp out of the way. About the warranty: Seeing how this juicer gives me an impression of lasting durability, I think it should have longer coverage. Tribest is well-known for their industry-leading warranties, and I cannot understand why this juicer is only covered for one year. Would I recommend the CitriStar? Yeah, I guess so. I would be more likely to strongly recommend the CitriStar if it cost less, especially when you consider what you're getting is actually a machine that is mostly made of plastic with very limited juicing capabilities. 4So glad i bought this productAfter doing quite a bit of research i decided on this product. And I'm very happy i did. Its motor is quiet not so loud that my kids have to cover there ears while waiting for juice. Easy to clean, compact and easy to store. Makes delicious juice that isn't overly pulpy. We like pulp so we don't mind some pulp. My 4 yr old request juice everyday. Our family had been buying the fresh squeezed orange juice from sams club. i wanted a product that would achieve the same juice but without the cost (the sams club model juicer is expensive and so is the gallon of juice). Mission completed and very satisfied with this product. 5Wish it were more powerful, but otherwise satisfiedOverall pleased with the performance of this juicer. It has some nice design features. So far it's worked well and seems to be a good value for the price. We had initially planned to purchase something heavier duty, but the juicers that are advertised to be heavy duty are very expensive and don't have all that great of consumer reviews, and we realized that we could buy several of these for the price of a "heavy duty" juicer. We have several citrus trees and have given this juicer a fair amount of use, juicing as much as three gallons at a time. It has two sizes of reamers, but we pretty much just use the large one whether juicing a small orange or a large grapefruit. It doesn't have a lot of power and if you press down too hard, the motor will stop, but if you take it easy, it works just fine. It isn't too noisy, which is nice, but it's also not very fast. One complaint is that the hole that the juice drops through out of the tray below the pulp screen is very small and can easily plug with pulp. 4The totally unacceptable design defect is that the hole through which the juice pours from the catch basin to the metal spout is tiny and can easily clog. These are inexpensive fixes the manufacturer should ...The Tribest CS-1000 CitriStar juicer has 2 design defects. One defect is minor, the other is totally unacceptable. The minor defect is that the movable metal spout from whence the juice pours sticks and is difficult to adjust. The totally unacceptable design defect is that the hole through which the juice pours from the catch basin to the metal spout is tiny and can easily clog. These are inexpensive fixes the manufacturer should quickly make. 1BEST CITRUS JUICER THERE ISThis is the best citrus juicer out there. I'm disappointed in Tribest that the didn't make the spout in stainless steel, though. But other than that, it makes the juice so quickly that it's a breeze to use and a breeze to clean up and have ready for the next time. I use the juice of one lime mixed with Pellegrino water and Now Better Organic stevia to taste, which are both sold on Amazon, and it's an AWESOME SUBSTITUTE for soda pop. Thank you, Amazon, for selling this juicer. 5
